Spartan Protocol V2 Official Mainnet Launch

Spartan Protocol V2 is now live on mainnet! Spartans, assemble! Prepare to re-join the shield wall stronger than ever!

Spartan Protocol V2 Official Mainnet Launch

Congratulations Spartans! This post stakes another Spartan flag into the cracked earth of the Binance Smart Chain ecosystem. We made it to mainnet with our upgraded, shiny new V2 Spartan Protocol. Two whole protocols were developed and deployed in just over a year; quite the achievement from a community-built and run project.

Now is the time for the community to interact with the protocol & focus on interfaces & DApps to hook into the protocol. The community contributors have been slaving away on the DAppV2 for some time now so you can get involved right away:

This week's dev update touched briefly on a list of general next steps to follow the mainnet v2 deployment, but this article looks to expand on those points.

Consider this as a general guide to V2, with the knowledge that as the protocol evolves and future DAO proposals go live, there may be some changes.

The Pools:

4 pools have been initially deployed by some generous Spartan contributors:

  • BNB (Curated)
  • BTCB (Curated)
  • BUSD (Curated)
  • USDT (Not Curated)

These 4 pools will be in an 'initializing' state for 7 days from genesis (11-12th Oct they become fully initialised) which means liquidity can go in and swaps can happen freely, but liquidity can't be removed until the pools have exited the initialisation phase. If you are on the fence about adding liquidity, there is always the option to wait until the pools complete the initialisation period and spend your time learning about the protocol.

Only 4 pools!? Yes; the V2 focus was on a more curated and big-cap approach, as it states on our front page - Deep Liquidity Pools.  Any user, however, is welcome to create their own pools, freely.  The DAO doesn't need to have a say in this; it is an individual decision for a user to create a pool, or potentially for a project to create their own liquidity pool. Be advised of a few caveats/requirements:

  • New pools take 7 days to initialize (no liquidity can be removed by anyone in that pool for 7 days from the pool's genesis datetime).
  • You are required to add at least 10,000 SPARTA + the equivalent value of the other TOKEN (initial liquidity) at the time of creating the pool.
  • You will pay a 1% fee in LP tokens on the pool's creation. This 'fee' is sent to the un-owned BASE contract, and permanently removed from supply.
  • 'Why do this' you ask? Well the new pool 'fee' serves many clever purposes, the two largest are to reduce spamming of pools and to ensure the pool always has a finite ratio, for safety purposes.

Depth-Caps and Spartan Protocol:

Whilst on the topic of pools; there will be capped depths to the pools.  These caps are not fixed forever and are managed pool-by-pool.  The initial caps will be set at 100K SPARTA depth per pool. As each pool reaches its caps; they can be doubled individually to allow more liquidity to enter in a controlled way. It's expected that these cap-raising events will happen quite fast to start with, and become less common as time goes on.

The community will need to show their support for raising the caps of their favourite pools through the usual channels (Telegram, Twitter etc). Please also take the time to educate your fellow Spartans on why these caps exist; we want to ensure that all users can dip their toes into the pools in a safe manner.

The Curated Pools:

Curated incentives (the ability to stake your LP tokens into the vault and harvest yield) will not be enabled until a reasonable pool depth exists, and weight is sufficiently distributed.  Dividends will, however, be enabled on curated pools, which effectively doubles the swap revenue for the liquidity providers.

The DAO & Bond:

DAO proposals will not be enabled until the DAOVault contains sufficient distributed weight.  Once this has been reached and proposals enabled; the Dao will handle the listing of Bond-enabled assets and the Bond allocations. Whilst Bonding is effective at adding depth to the pools; for a fair Bond distribution and less slippage; pools should have some existing bolstered depth; let us wait for that & let the DAO decide from there.

The SynthYield Tokens:

Synths will not be enabled until a sufficient TVL has been reached. Synths rely heavily on pools depth; enabling them too early will create a situation where only a small percentage of those interested in synths will have access to them. Similar to the pool depth-caps; the synths will also have depth-caps. Most likely will be set at 30% of the token depth of the pool (max) and will gradually work to that 30% max number over time to allow more synths to be released over time, via the dynamic synth cap.

The DApp:

The DApp is a continuous work in progress from the community contributors; if you have any issues, please head to the GitHub repo and check the issues list. If your issue is not listed please feel free to add the issue (make sure you provide detail) or reach out on Telegram to float the issue with the community to confirm first if you are not sure.

UI/style is not yet the focus so please don't clog up the issues list with suggestions on fonts/colours etc, but well-explained and documented suggestions of all types are welcome & appreciated. Functional issues or anything that presents bad enough UX to result in users with locked funds (without a warning) and issues of that nature are the highest priority for now.

If you want to contribute to the DApp please reach out to get connected with the more frequent contributors any time!

Community Contribution

Spartan Protocol is at its core, a community-driven and led project. In this vein, the more contributors the better. There is a great opportunity for community members to contribute by making LP reward analysis tools, etc.

Recently, community members have been graciously funnelling in to contribute to explainer articles, ideas and even $SPARTA donations to support the growth of the platform.‌
